Patty’s Child Clinics Pakistan enters the second round

The Patty’s Child Clinics Pakistan (PCCP) team is proud to announce that we were able to start the construction work for the second clinic in Mianwal Ranjha, Mandi Bahauddin District, last week. PCCP offers mothers-to-be comprehensive medical care from the first days of their pregnancies through to delivery, examination and vaccination of the newborn children and all follow-up treatment. Patricia Poetis, initiator of the project, said: “This is wonderful news. In Chillianwala, we were able to give almost 3,500 children a smooth start to life and treated over 10,000 mothers medically. We see every day how important this work is, and are especially grateful to our supporters – the Lions Foundation International, the Lions Foundation Germany, and the great helpers of the Lions Club Chillianwala, who did everything in their power to enable the construction of a new clinic.” The PCCP in Chillianwala is very popular and thanks to the good medical equipment of the hospital, the death rate of mother and child at birth has been reduced to zero. The Managing Director of Siemens Healthcare Pakistan, Khurram Jameel, whom Patricia Poetis met in person during a delegation trip of Bavarian entrepreneurs in Pakistan in October 2018, immediately recognised the importance of the project and assured the support of Siemens Healthcare for this and further clinics. The project is also receiving immense support from politicians. In October 2018, Patricia Poetis and His Excellency Aamir Mehmood Kiani, Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination, signed a Memorandum of Understanding promising government support for the project. Ashan Mehmood Baba, former Mayor of Chillianwala and now Director of PCCP for all of Pakistan and President of the Lions Club Chillianwala was personally present last week to see the progress at the Mianwal Ranjha construction site. It is thanks to his intensive efforts that the construction could start so promptly. During the visit, Mr. Ahsan Baba met the head of the Basic Health Unit in Mianwal Ranjha, Dr. Arslan, who underlined again the importance of this project and his hopes that, following this initiative’s example, a reliable medical infrastructure will be built in the whole country. We, the PCCP team, would like to take this opportunity to reach out and thank all of our supporters and friends, in particular the Lions Foundations and the Lions Club Chillianwala, as well as Mr. Baba, Dr. Arslan, and especially His Excellency Mr. Kiani and Mr. Jameel. We hope for many more clinics, but especially for many more healthy children and happy...

Exhibition “Arts from Pakistan” starts in Munich

Munich – The European Patent Office in Munich proudly presents an exhibition of Mr. Hanif Abdul in cooperation with the Culture Club. This last exhibition of the Culture Club in 2018 is dedicated to the topic “Arts from Pakistan” and features Hanif Abdul, a Pakistani-German artist. Mr. Abdul’s work combines Pakistan’s traditional heritage with modern art, thus reflecting on differences and unifying elements between tradition and the dynamic evolution of modern technology. Mr. Abdul’s abstract paintings are determined by vehement dynamics. Passion manifests itself in many of the works. Some show subtle unclear contours which stimulate the spectators’ phantasy: at times figures such as Pakistani men sitting together seem to arise out of the dense network of black ink, dark oil, or acrylic colour. Honorary Consul Dr. Poetis has participated as a guest of honour at the opening ceremony of the exhibition. He enjoyed the rich and diverse artwork which represents Pakistani culture. Our special thanks go to Dr. M Saeed Chaudhry, President of the German Pakistani Forum, who has initiated the exhibition. If you are interested to see Mr. Abdul’s modern interpretation of traditional Pakistan, please visit the exhibition until 18th December 2018 at the European Patent Office, Bayerstrasse 34, 80335 Munich, from Monday – Thursday 9 am – 5 pm and on Friday 9 am – 4...
