Exhibition “Arts from Pakistan” starts in Munich

Munich – The European Patent Office in Munich proudly presents an exhibition of Mr. Hanif Abdul in cooperation with the Culture Club. This last exhibition of the Culture Club in 2018 is dedicated to the topic “Arts from Pakistan” and features Hanif Abdul, a Pakistani-German artist. Mr. Abdul’s work combines Pakistan’s traditional heritage with modern art, thus reflecting on differences and unifying elements between tradition and the dynamic evolution of modern technology. Mr. Abdul’s abstract paintings are determined by vehement dynamics. Passion manifests itself in many of the works. Some show subtle unclear contours which stimulate the spectators’ phantasy: at times figures such as Pakistani men sitting together seem to arise out of the dense network of black ink, dark oil, or acrylic colour. Honorary Consul Dr. Poetis has participated as a guest of honour at the opening ceremony of the exhibition. He enjoyed the rich and diverse artwork which represents Pakistani culture. Our special thanks go to Dr. M Saeed Chaudhry, President of the German Pakistani Forum, who has initiated the exhibition. If you are interested to see Mr. Abdul’s modern interpretation of traditional Pakistan, please visit the exhibition until 18th December 2018 at the European Patent Office, Bayerstrasse 34, 80335 Munich, from Monday – Thursday 9 am – 5 pm and on Friday 9 am – 4...

Bavarian Business Delegation to Pakistan to foster bilateral economic cooperation

On Monday, Senior Vice President of the GPCCI, Syed Nadeem Ali Kazmi, paid a visit to the Honorary Consulate in Pullach. Mr. Kazmi discussed the proposed program for Karachi with Consul Dr. Poetis and the delegation planning staff. As a special highlight for the participants, the GPCCI will organize a German-Pakistan Business Conference in Karachi. A large number of Pakistani business representatives are expected to attend the conference. The focus of the event will be on the concrete initiation of bilateral economic cooperation. The delegation trip in October 2018 will be the first such exchange between Bavarian and Pakistani business representatives. The political level will also be included. Meetings with senior government officials in Karachi and Islamabad are planned. The trip will provide delegation participants with an exciting insight into Pakistan’s positive investment environment. Prime Minister Khan is determined to minimize bureaucratic restrictions on foreign investment. In addition to the liberal investment policy, international companies are offered comprehensive incentives. This policy is intended to give Pakistan a location advantage over other countries in the region. Pakistan’s economic growth is continuing to accelerate amid rising investments led by China-Pakistan Economic Corridor related infrastructure and energy related projects. In particular, Pakistan’s growing middle class offers a great potential to foreign investors. The low-inflation high-growth economy of Pakistan is one of the causes for a growing affluent consumer base, which is forecast to increase around 6% annually. Both factors are having an overall positive effect on the local purchasing power. High-Level German Business Delegation to Pakistan from 21st to 26th October 2018 The Bavarian Ministry for Economic Affair with the cooperation of the Pakistani Embassy in Berlin and the Honorary Consulate for Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemberg will take a high-level business delegation to Pakistan from 21st to 26th October 2018 to meet a select group of Pakistani entrepreneurs and government officials who have the inside track on investments in Pakistan. We are very excited to welcome you as a part of the delegation to explore the Pakistani...

Bavarian business delegation to witness dawn of ‘New Pakistan’

In preparation of the Bavarian business delegation visit to Pakistan scheduled for this upcoming October, I had the opportunity to spend the last few weeks in Pakistan to witness the triumph of Imran Kahn’s Naya Pakistan. Naya Pakistan (New Pakistan) was the election slogan of Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. According to the party spokesperson, Naya Pakistan means caring for every section of the society, irrespective of their religious beliefs. Possibly it was this vision which convinced the majority of Pakistanis to cast their vote in favour of Imran Khan, hoping that he will address the core problems which the country has been facing for decades. The new elected Prime Minister Khan heavily encourages foreign investors and overseas Pakistanis to invest in the country and help accelerate the economy. Significant tax reforms, reforms in the public education sector as well as intensifying the fight against corruption form an integral part of his policy. GATE to Pakistan regards Naya Pakistan as a very promising opportunity for the high level business delegation, which is being organized by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Energy and Technology in conjunction with the Honorary Consulate for Pakistan in Bavaria. Following the commitments already made by the esteemed participants, the delegation will be covering a wide range of important German industries. Among others, we are delighted to welcome participants from the banking sector, real estate, and pharmaceuticals. Honorary Consul Dr. Poetis is pleased to announce the continuation of the ‘Made in Pakistan with German Engineering’ initiative. This initiative was launched by GATE to Pakistan to support German companies establishing production in Pakistan. “The delegation visit provides an exclusive opportunity for German company representatives to receive a first hand experience of the country and discuss investment and cooperation opportunities with business partners as well as representatives of the new elected government.” Jointly with Mr. Rieger, Senior Ministerial Counsellor from the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Energy and Technology, Dr. Poetis will personally participate in the trip to encourage attendees to manifest the ‘Made in Pakistan with German Engineering’ concept in the form of new, successful business collaborations. On a personal note, I am very pleased to announce that my cousin Shafqat Mahmood is also forming part of the team Naya Pakistan – on August 20, he was sworn in as Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training.
